Denver’s Nationally-Acclaimed Park System Deserves Praise and Recognition
Don't Miss Denver's Wonderful Parks Including City Park and Washington Park
If you are looking to relocate to a city with a top-notch parks and recreation system, consider Denver, Colorado. Did you know that Denver has the largest park system in the United States? Denver’s nationally acclaimed park system and its commitment to preserving open space deserve praise and recognition. According to the City of Denver’s website, its vision is to, "to be a nationally recognized leader providing model programs and dynamic public spaces." Denver is doing a great job with its parks and recreation system that boosts over 4,000 acres of parks including natural space, trails, jogging paths, playgrounds, and much more. Two of TeamCox Realtors’ favorite parks in the Denver area include: City Park: City Park, the largest park in Denver, was originally modeled after New York’s Central Park. More recently, Mayor Hickenlooper and the City of Denver have made some wonderful improvements to it. In June, the Rocky Mountain News reported on the reopening of Ferril Lake after $28 million storm drain project. The project included the restoration of City Park’s century old fountain, which had been neglected for decades. The 2008 Democratic National Convention (to be held in Denver) was motivation for these improvements. Interestingly enough, the fountain was last renovated in preparation for the 1908 Democratic National Convention. It is wonderful that Denver is investing in this historic park for future generations to enjoy. Washington Park: Denver’s Washington Park is another favorite of TeamCox Realtors. It is also over 100 years old and features spectacular flower gardens and endless jogging trails, picnic areas and even a boathouse. The 100-acre Washington Park is simply charming at all times of the day with its extensive recreational offerings. It is a top destination to enjoy Colorado’s beautiful late summer and early fall weather. Click here to search for homes near City Park or Washington Park.
